She also noted about the seriousness of the reform, saying that she always takes interest in the updates about its implementation from Yerlan Sagadiyev, the Minister of Education. “I think it is very important to use three languages,” said the Senator, referring to Kazakh as a mother tongue, Russian – as a language of interethnic communication, and English – as a language of modern times. “Dear teachers, thank you for your tolerance and endeavors!” said Dariga Nazarbayeva.

The winners of the republican contest “Úzdik pedagog – 2018” received diplomas as well as certificates of 2.4 million tenge from Dariga Nazarbayeva.

Among 48 teachers who received the award there is Samatov Abylai Maratovich, a teacher of chemistry at “Bilim-Innovation” Lyceum (BIL) No.1, Karaganda. Abylai Samatov, the “Best Teacher of 2018”, says that he always works towards developing pupils’ intellectual abilities. He has had many students in different regions of the country, namely in Kostanay, in Nurorda lyceum of Astana, and for the past 3 years in BIL Karaganda.

“We are developing a textbook against the new chemistry curriculum. I have been helping teachers with the implementation of trilingual policy by delivering language courses for the last two years. I ask to use a lot of practical work at chemistry. I also try to explain the theory as much as possible. That is to say that I believe it is important to treat the theory and practice equally and teach both in natural sciences,” said A. Samatov.
