The 41st Balkan Mathematical Olympiad was held in Varna, Bulgaria, from April 27 to May 2. Over 130 students from 22 countries competed, including six participants from Kazakhstan. Among them were Zhan Dautov, an 11th-grade student from BIL in Kostanay, and Margulan Sharel, a 10th-grader from BIL in Taraz.
The Kazakhstani team delivered outstanding results, securing 1 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals, thus finishing third in the overall team ranking. Zhan Dautov earned a gold medal, while Margulan Sharel claimed a silver.
Additionally, we are delighted to announce that a problem developed by Tynyshbek Anuarbekov, a mathematics teacher at BIL Ust-Kamenogorsk, was featured as a competition problem during this Olympiad.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our students, their parents and teachers for this outstanding performance and wish them ongoing success. It is also worth mentioning that these talented students will be participating in the International Mathematical Olympiad in Bath, UK, from July 11 to 24 this year.
